WELCOME TO ANGEL BUSINESS CENTRE

Our recently renovated business centre in the heart of Toddington Village.

OUR HISTORY

The Angel Business Centre began its life as an inn dating back to the sixteenth century and has overlooked the town pond since 1581. History indicates that the Inn formed part of the Manor of Toddington since 1799

The Angel was purchased by the Morris Family in 1801 and remained in the hands of the family until 1926 when the inn was taken over by Luton Brewers J.W. Green Limited. During this period there were a few landlords. We know of Thomas Spufford and latterly Mrs R Pilgrim.

In 1844 a theft of money was reported during Mr Spufford’s tenancy which resulted in James Waller being transported and serving 10 years for the theft.

In 1926 the inn was described as a brick and slate end of terrace property with a bar parlour, taproom, living room and scullery downstairs, and three bedrooms upstairs. Outside the property a shed constructed of brick and slate, and a coal barn and wood barn of timber and tile. In 1954 J. W. Green merged with Midlands Brewers Flowerstaking the Flowers name. The new firm was taken over by Whitbread in 1962. The TDM Pension Scheme then acquired the Angel in 2019 and began its refurbishment into the business centre that it is today.
